Northwest Arkansas E-Bike Voucher Program: Eligibility and How to Register

Nicole Falgout & Barbara Stefanis October 3, 2026

Northwest Arkansas Residents Can Get Up to $1,200 Toward an E-Bike — And It’s Not Just Bentonville!

If you’ve been eyeing an e-bike for Northwest Arkansas’ trails—or even thinking about using one for short trips around town—there’s a new program worth knowing about.

And here’s the part that surprised us: you do NOT have to live in the City of Bentonville to qualify.

The Arkansas Tri-Region E-Bike Voucher Program is now accepting registrations, and residents throughout Benton, Washington and Madison counties are included. That means people living in communities like Centerton, Rogers, Bella Vista, Pea Ridge, Lowell, Cave Springs, Springdale, Fayetteville and many others may be eligible. NARPC

How Much Can You Get?

There are two voucher levels:

$700 General Resident Voucher
If you're at least 18 years old and permanently live in an eligible county, there is no income limit for the $700 voucher.

Up to $1,200 Income-Qualified Voucher
Households at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level may qualify for the larger $1,200 voucher. For 2026, the program lists the income limit at $31,920 for a one-person household, $43,280 for two people, $54,640 for three and $66,000 for a household of four. Ebikear

That's an important distinction: the program isn't only for lower-income households. The $700 voucher is available regardless of income, as long as the other eligibility requirements are met.

Yes, Centerton Residents Qualify

This was actually what sent us down this rabbit hole!

Bentonville has its own separate e-bike rebate program, but the Arkansas Tri-Region program is much broader. For Northwest Arkansas, eligibility extends across Benton, Washington and Madison counties. Ebikear

So if you live in Centerton, Rogers, Bella Vista, Pea Ridge, Gravette, Lowell, Cave Springs or another Benton County community, your address may qualify for this regional program.

The full program actually extends beyond NWA, covering 12 Arkansas counties and two Oklahoma counties in the Northwest Arkansas, Central Arkansas and Fort Smith metropolitan regions. The goal is to distribute at least 5,844 e-bike vouchers. NARPC

How Do You Get a Voucher?

Here's the biggest thing to understand: registering doesn't automatically mean you receive $700 or $1,200.

The vouchers are awarded through computerized random selections.

You first register online with basic information such as your name, address, birthdate and contact information. If you're selected in one of the drawings, you'll then be invited to complete the full application and provide documentation verifying your eligibility. NARPC

And there's some good news if you aren't selected the first time: you don't have to keep reapplying. A completed registration stays active and is automatically entered into subsequent selections. Ebikear

As of October 2026, the remaining scheduled selection dates are November 17, 2026; January 12, 2027; March 16, 2027; and May 11, 2027. Registration is expected to remain open throughout the program. NARPC

What Kind of E-Bike Can You Buy?

There are a few rules here, so don't go buy a bike first and expect to get reimbursed later.

The voucher is not retroactive. If you're selected, you'll use it as a point-of-sale discount toward a new qualifying e-bike from a participating retailer. The bike has to meet the program's safety and equipment requirements, including approved UL certification, a motor of 750 watts or less and a manufacturer's warranty of at least one year. Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 e-bikes can qualify, but full-suspension bikes and aftermarket conversion kits are excluded. NARPC

Once issued, the voucher is good for 60 days.

One other nice detail: if the qualifying bike costs less than your voucher amount, remaining voucher funds may be applied toward sales tax and certain eligible safety equipment, such as helmets, locks and bike lights. You don't receive unused voucher money as cash. Ebikear

Where Is the Money Coming From?

This isn't a city tax rebate from Centerton or another individual NWA community.

The Arkansas Tri-Region program is funded through an EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant awarded to the Arkansas Tri-Region Coalition, which includes the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission, Metroplan and the City of Fort Smith. NARPC

The broader project allocated $7 million for the regional e-bike incentive initiative, with the goal of encouraging e-bikes as an alternative form of transportation and reducing vehicle miles traveled. NARPC

Why This Is Especially Interesting in Northwest Arkansas

Anyone who lives here knows how much biking has become part of Northwest Arkansas.

Between the Razorback Greenway, mountain-bike trail systems and the growing network of connections between our communities, bikes aren't only recreation anymore. As our cities continue growing, programs like this also give residents another option for shorter everyday trips.

And a $700 discount can make an e-bike considerably more attainable.

For income-qualified households, up to $1,200 off can make an even bigger difference.

So, Should You Register?

If you live in one of the eligible counties and you've been considering an e-bike, registration is free and the $700 general voucher does not have an income restriction. Because unsuccessful registrants remain entered for future drawings, getting registered now gives you a chance in the remaining selections. Ebikear
